FAQs
Since when has Rhyl been a
city?
Rhyl City Strategy is part of a UK
wide programme funded by the Department of Work and Pensions to
find innovative ways of tackling economic inactivity in our poorest
communities. The inclusion of Rhyl allows DWP to gain
valuable learning about applying the approach in a smaller seaside
town.
Most people on benefits
don’t want to work – aren’t most of them better off on
benefits?
Some people are better off
financially on benefits than in work. Several organisations can
help you work out whether you would be better off in work or on
benefits. But work is about more than just money – it can
give you self-esteem, good social networks, a chance to develop
skills and knowledge, and a broader outlook on life. Many
people just need a bit of support and confidence before they feel
they can enter or re-enter the world of work and embrace all the
opportunities working life has to offer, including financial
reward.
Can you help me find
work?
Rhyl City Strategy can help
individual jobseekers by signposting them to the relevant agencies,
who will then be able to provide specialist support and
guidance. Jobseekers can contact Rhyl City Strategy for
information about upcoming events or training courses.
Have you got any money for
training?
We do not have any money to pay for
individuals to receive skills training, but we can try and find an
organisation that may be able to help.
