Rhyl City Strategy Official Launch
This exciting day was held on 25th January
2008.
Almost 100 representatives from a range of
agencies and businesses attended the formal launch in the morning
at the United Reform Church Hall. The Rhyl City Strategy
vision was outlined by Chris Ruane MP. Further contributions
were made by Boyd Wood (Department of Work and Pensions), local lad
Paul Higginson, (Senior Vice-President of 20th Century
Fox), Lyn Edwards (Tales
from TocH), Gareth Matthews, (Director of Rhyl
City Strategy), and Mike Ralph (Modus Properties). Delegates
were then invited to walk across to the Rhyl Town Hall to see for
themselves the range of services on offer for people wishing to
return to work.
The buzzing atmosphere in the Town Hall kept
all engaged who entered. Over thirty organisations provided
stands and exhibitions about employment and training
opportunities. The sunny weather and a performing artist
helped bring in the crowds, with several hundred people popping in
to see what was happening. Careers Wales offered workshops on
CV writing and interview techniques, Asda offered advice on how to
dress for interview, and TRB manager Rob Lloyd gave interview tips.
Visitors were able to sign up for training opportunities, look into
the availability of voluntary work experience and work trials,
watch make-up, nails and hair demonstrations and enter the free
raffle.
Comments heard throughout the day included
“absolutely fantastic”, “look how busy it is”, “good representation
from organisations”.
