Virtual Shop
Entering Retail and the Virtual Shop
Learners in Coleg Llandrillo Rhyl have been
getting to grips with the latest technology at Rhyl City Strategy’s
‘Virtual Shop’ retail training facility. The six week “Entering
Retail” courses are preparing people for work in the modern retail
trade, covering cash handling, customer service, confidence
building, employability skills as well as EPOS tills and stock
control.
Course run for 2½ days a week. Those
completing the course gain a Skillsmart “Retail Passport”, and can
gain OCN qualifications. Training is free for Rhyl residents who
are not in work, and most learners’ benefits will not be
affected.
Learners who have completed the course
said:
“I really enjoyed the introduction to new
technology”
“I’ve found the course really useful”
“I liked learning how to use the touch screen
till, how to cash up and how the banking works”
From October 2008, the training facility will
move from Llandrillo College Rhyl’s Cefndy Road site to a new
premises in Wellington Road, West Rhyl. This exciting
development sees Rhyl City Strategy working with Rhyl Youth Action
Group to site the “Virtual Shop” within a new facility containing
meeting rooms, a large training space and self-contained units of
accommodation for young people in need of housing support.
